From imposter syndrome to self-confidence – starting your career successfully
Starting a career in psychology is an exciting but often challenging phase. Despite obvious successes, many career starters feel that they do not have enough competence for what they do. They are afraid of being exposed as not good enough – a typical sign of “impostor syndrome” (better known to some as the impostor syndrome). They are often plagued by self-doubt such as: “Am I good enough?”, “Do I know enough?”, “Will I live up to expectations?”
The problem with impostor thoughts is that despite obvious successes, the doubts often remain. This can lead us to avoid opportunities and not reach our full potential for fear of failure.
This presentation explains where these self-doubts come from, how they affect our professional and private lives, and what strategies can help us overcome them.
