Inhalt
In recent years, ketamine has been increasingly used in place of traditional antidepressants. Esketamine (Spravato) is approved for this purpose, while racemic ketamine offers certain advantages in off-label treatment. Ketamine is characterized by a fast, robust, and anti-suicidal effect, especially in treatment-resistant depression, PTSD, and addiction disorders. Compared to traditional SSRIs, possible side effects are minor and, in particular, short-lived. The long-term effectiveness can be significantly increased when combined with psychotherapy.Other substances are also currently being researched intensively and are approved in some countries, such as pilocybin, MDMA, and LSD microdosing.
